In response to the growing demand from UCSD Bioengineering students and our Industry Partners, this site was created to allow Industry to post internship and career position opportunities. UCSD Bioengineering students can view and apply for positions specific to their areas of interest and training.

Careers are defined as full or part time employment opportunities to meet the needs of industry and society. Career positions are not eligible to receive internship academic credit for BENG 196 or BENG 295.
Internships -
Post an Internship
Internships provide a meaningful experience which enriches the educational and career growth of the student and fulfills the workforce needs of industry. Internships are limited appointment opportunities, and do not guarantee a career position once the internship has expired.
The UCSD Department of Bioengineering offers the opportunity to receive academic credit to bioengineering students who take part in unpaid internships. Please see information below to see if your internship opportunity qualifies for academic credit.
Specific Objectives
- Enhance the student’s preparation for a successful industrial or professional career
- Educate students that meet and exceed the expectations of industry and the professions
- Collect student and industry data to continually improve the student’s educational experience
The Internship*
Internships are defined as:
- Academic Year: Part-time internships during fall, winter and/or spring quarters (9 - 20 hours per week)
- Summer: Full or part-time internships (20 - 40 hours per week)
The Intern
- Is a currently enrolled UCSD Bioengineering junior, senior or graduate student
- Receives guidance from an industry mentor and for some internships by a bioengineering faculty advisor
Student Responsibilities
- Represents the UCSD Bioengineering Department and displays to the highest standards of professionalism
- Adheres to the attendance policies and requirements established by the company
- Agrees to abide by the ABET Engineering Code of Ethics
Faculty Responsibilities
For interns receiving academic credit:
- Assigns academic credit to the internship experience
- Provides guidance to the student intern
- Communicates with the company representative
- Evaluates the academic internship
- Specifies needs, qualifications, and duties
- Selects the intern
- Oversees the intern’s work progress
- Cooperates with faculty for the benefit of the student
- May evaluate the intern and the internship program
- Retains rights to any intellectual property and intern generated reports
